K&B isn't a clever business name. It's just us.
We're parents, educators at heart, and two people who believe that helping a student can be a lot more personal than getting them through the next assignment.
Kelsey has spent her career working directly with students, teachers, and families. Brandon's career has taken a different path—engineering, leadership, and building systems that help people and organizations work better.
K&B Learning brings those two perspectives together.
Hi, I'm Kelsey.
I taught high school math for six years before moving into school leadership, where I spent seven years as an assistant principal working with students, teachers, and families from a much broader perspective.
And for two of those years, I kept teaching, too.
I loved teaching because of those moments when something finally clicked for a student. Leadership taught me that what happens in the classroom is often only part of the story.
Eventually, I wanted the opportunity to work with students in a way that's difficult when you're responsible for an entire classroom or school:
Slow down. Get to know the student. Pay attention to how they think. And help them figure out what they're capable of.

Hi, I'm Brandon.
I'm the other half of the K&B.
My background isn't in education. I'm a structural engineer, currently in a leadership role, and I'm usually the person asking, “Why are we doing it this way?” and “Is there a better way?”
At K&B, I work behind the scenes on the systems that help us follow through on what we promise—how we track progress, communicate with families, organize learning plans, and continue improving what we do.
Kelsey understands students and learning in a way that comes from years in education. I tend to think about how we take that expertise and build something around it that works well for the families we serve.
Different background. Same goal.

After years in the classroom and school leadership, our family made the decision for Kelsey to step away from school administration and stay home with our kids.
It was the right decision for our family. But stepping away from a school didn't mean stepping away from education—or from something Kelsey has always been passionate about.
As we talked about what might come next, we kept coming back to a pretty simple idea:
Kelsey knows education. She understands students, learning, instruction, and the many things that can get in the way when a student is struggling.
Brandon's background is different. He's an engineer and a systems thinker who loves taking an idea, figuring out how it can work better, and building the structure around it.
And we both care deeply about family, relationships, and doing work that genuinely helps someone.
K&B Learning grew out of bringing those things together.
We aren't trying to build the biggest tutoring company. We want to build something intentionally small and personal—where we actually know the students and families we work with, pay attention to what they need, and serve them the best we can.
